On January 11, 2014, Paris High School hosted the first annual Paris High School Cheerleading Challenge. The event required a lot of hard work and logistical expertise on the part of coach Tanner Laughlin, assistant coach Heather Crippes, a lot of cheer parents, several former PHS cheerleaders, and numerous other volunteers. The event was a resounding success that culminated in both the PHS varsity and PHS junior varsity winning their respective divisions in the contest! Kudos to coach Laughlin, coach Crippes and their squads! Well done! There is an important take away from this event. Coach Laughlin and the girls had a vision: To hold a successful competition in Paris despite the fact we had never hosted one. Despite lacking experience, they put together a successful event with a can do attitude. They were willing to take the risk, established a can do attitude, and made the event happen despite several obstacles (including the winter storm of the century....so far!) We can all learn from their willingness to take a risk to reap the rewards of success and victory. What goal are you shooting for?
